Colectric Partners, Inc. (Colectric) developed this facility which
is owned and operated by the Municipal Electric Authority of Georgia
(MEAG). The MEAG Plant Wansley facility, a greenfield project, provides
reliable power to MEAG’s growing base of customers and the
Southeast region's wholesale power market.
Utility Engineering (UE) and BE&K formed a Joint Venture partnership
for this 2-on-1, 500 MW combined cycle EPC project. This facility
consists of two General Electric (GE) Frame 7FA gas turbines, two
Nooter/Eriksen heat recovery steam generators and one GE steam turbine.
It is a modern, natural gas-fueled facility with state-of-the-art
emission controls.
UE provided all detailed civil/structural, mechanical, electrical
and controls balance of plant (BOP) engineering including all
procurement and construction specifications. In addition, UE provided
field engineer services during construction, checkout, start-up
and performance testing. Commercial operation occurred April 4,
2004, almost two months ahead of schedule.
This project received the Bentley 2004 BE Award of Excellence
Plant Award for Information Management.
