The Acadia Energy Center was constructed by a joint venture of
Calpine Corporation and Central Louisiana Electric Cooperative (CLECO)
as a merchant plant in Acadia Parish, Louisiana.
This 4-on-2, 1050 MW combined cycle plant consists of four Siemens
Westinghouse 501FD combustion turbines, four Nooter Eriksen three-pressure
reheat HRSGs with duct burners and two Siemens 210 MW steam turbines
with 100% turbine bypass systems. It also includes six ABB generator
step-up (GSU) transformers, a 650 gpm two-pass RO system and a Siemens
Teleperm DCS controls system.
Utility Engineering (UE) was responsible for all detailed civil/structural,
mechanical, electrical and controls balance of plant (BOP) engineering
including all procurement specifications. Zachry was the general contractor
on this project and commercial operation occurred in August 2002.
