Project:
TWIN OAKS POWER (formerly TNP ONE), Bremond, Texas, USA
Project Owner:
Sempra Energy Resources (formerly Texas-New Mexico Power)
Completion Date: 1991
Twin Oaks Power is a two-unit power generation facility that was
originally built to meet a portion of Texas-New Mexico Power Company’s
projected power needs for its service territory.
The facility consists of two 165 MW, lignite coal-fueled units.
At the time of initial operation, the plant had the two largest
circulating fluidized bed combustion technology steam generators
in operation in the world. The lignite fuel for the facility comes
from an adjacent mine. Twin Oaks Power fully complies with permitted
environmental standards regarding sulfur dioxide and particulate
emissions.
It serves as a base-loaded source of power for the utility and
was completed per the established schedule and budget. Utility Engineering
(UE), serving the consortium that built the facility for the owner,
was responsible for the balance of plant engineering, checkout support
and performance testing.
Services Performed:
- Plant layout and estimating
- Detailed BOP engineering
- Checkout, start-up and training
- Performance testing
- Life cycle costing
- As-built documentation
